Sometimes you gotta make a mess...

I decided to get out the paints yesterday.  Yes, it took a little courage and was more than a little exhausting, but it was fun too!

Making vitamin D

Okay, so first of all, the title is because of this article that everyone has to go read right now.

All right, so we went outside in the sun today, specifically because of the linked article.  I realized that since I'm religious about sunscreen and shade, my vitamins make me sick so I hardly ever take them and I never drink milk, I'm probably more vitamin D deficient than most.  So I donned my swimsuit with the kids, and sat out (sunscreenless!!) in the back yard with the kids.  I set a timer so I didn't overcook...lol  The kids had a blast.

A house in shambles

Saturday night our water line out to the main backed up.  The pipes seem to be in good condition, just not cleaned out in ages and ages.  At least 7 years, since we're sure the previous owner never had them routinely cleaned.  Anyway, it soaked the carpet and the walls.

So we're in the middle of taking out wet stuff (carpet and drywall) so we can put in dry next week.  It makes me so sad.
Yay for homeowner's insurance...

Meet Coco

So, at the end of April, my friend Aubrey came into some kittens.  The mother is technically a stray that they'd sort of adopted that is exclusively outdoors and lives in the barn of the property they rent.  She posted on facebook asking if anyone wanted them, and I sort of half-seriously told her that she should come up to visit after we closed on our house and moved in, and bring a kitten with her.

Well, after some conversations with her and with Matt, it became serious.  They just stopped by for a visit on their way to Wyoming, and dropped off a little kitten.  We named her Coco (as in coconut, though coconut is not her name, lol).
The kids absolutely adore her, though I'll be honest, I'm mortified at just how mean Patrick is to her.  She's pretty tolerant, which is probably from being raised around Aubrey's girls that are my kids' ages.  She's really sweet and playful, and loves to be cuddled...just what I'm looking for in a kitty.

All things Allison

Allison and I hit 32 weeks on Friday!
We had an appointment complete with non-stress test (NST) and biophyiscal profile ultrasound (BPP). During the BPP they check things like fluid levels, muscle tone, practice breathing, and swallowing, among other things. She passed her BPP and NST with flying colors. And I got a couple pictures.
Best part of the appointment is we scheduled my induction day! So Allison is scheduled to be born Aug. 27th, unless she gets it into her mind she needs to be born before that.

Also, I finished the painting of her nursery. I'm so excited! I just need to make the valance and closet curtain, and of course get the furniture. lol

Aunt Nyssa singing

What can I say? I'm proud of her and she and her companions sing beautifully.

Independence Day

In the morning we went to the ward breakfast
Then we did a little shopping (looking for a new computer desk for Matt...no luck), and stopped at Dairy Queen for lunch (Erin wanted a hot dog, I wanted ice cream, it was the perfect solution).
We then went to go see Kung Fu Panda 2 (which we all loved), and then crashed at home for a while.  After dinner we did a small fireworks display for the kids.

They threw the poppers.  Erin did really well, Patrick couldn't quite throw them hard enough.  (We couldn't get our sparklers to light.  I was so disappointed!)
And then we started with the small ones.  Erin LOVED even the teenies, so it made the bigger ones more fun.  It felt less lame with 2 little kids.
And our poor friendship pagoda caught fire and burnt to the pavement....lol  It was the highlight of Erin's evening.  She's still talking about it today.
After the kids went to bed, Matt and I went down the street to the block party and watched the illegal ones...lol  It was a fun night.

Daddy's burfday

Erin has been so excited for Matt's birthday, it's been adorable.  We invited some friends over to have a bbq on our new grill, so I thought to myself, what better a present than some nice grilling tools?  He had to open his present early.
Then we had food with friends
And cake
And then Matt opened the present from Erin that she chose herself, a lego robot.
And the first thing she said to us this morning when she came into our room?  "Daddy, can we play wif legos??"  So they did.
